Minnesota Vikings Vs Detroit Lions 2024

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have implemented significant roster changes ahead of their upcoming NFC North matchup against the Detroit Lions. The changes were announced on Saturday, as the Vikings aim to maintain their undefeated streak in this pivotal week 7 game.

The team has ruled out tight end T.J. Hockenson and guard Dalton Risner for the game. Both players are currently in their 21-day evaluation periods, which makes them eligible to be activated at any time. However, a roster move would be required to add either to the team’s active list.

Hockenson has been recovering from a knee injury sustained against the Lions in December 2023. As a result, he remains on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Similarly, Risner has been managing a back injury from training camp and is on the Injured Reserve/Designated for Return roster.

To bolster their squad, the Vikings have signed tight end Robert Tonyan from their practice squad to the main roster. Tonyan has appeared in three games this season, securing 11 offensive snaps and contributing 28 snaps on special teams. While he hasn’t been targeted for a pass this season yet, his presence is seen as a strategic addition.

Further reinforcing their lineup, the Vikings elevated defensive lineman Jalen Redmond and outside linebacker Bo Richter from the practice squad to the active roster. Redmond has played in two games, amassing 23 defensive snaps and recording his first career sack against the Houston Texans in Week 3. Richter, on the other hand, has contributed in two games, attaining 13 defensive snaps along with 36 on special teams, and has registered one tackle.
