Justin Skule Minnesota Vikings Signing

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent offensive tackle Justin Skule, a move announced by the team on March 13, 2025. Skule joins Minnesota amidst concerns for left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who is recovering from a torn ACL and MCL.

Skule, 28, played all 17 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, making five starts. The former sixth-round draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2019 brings valuable experience and depth as a swing tackle for the Vikings.

“Justin gives us flexibility at the tackle positions,” Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said in a statement. “His versatility to play both left and right tackle is crucial, especially with Christian’s current recovery.”

During his tenure with the 49ers, Skule participated in 31 games, registering 12 starts. After a promising start, he faced setbacks due to injuries, including a torn ACL that put him on injured reserve in 2021. He was waived by San Francisco in 2022 but quickly signed with the Buccaneers.

Last season, Skule performed well as a backup, earning a Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade of 69.2, with commendable performances in both pass protection and run blocking. His contributions were particularly vital in light of injuries to key Buccaneers players.

At 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 315 pounds, Skule is expected to fill the role previously held by David Quessenberry, who was a free agent.

“I’m excited for this new chapter in my career with the Vikings,” Skule said. “I look forward to contributing to the team’s success and helping the offensive line perform at a high level.”

Skule’s arrival comes at a strategic time for the Vikings as they prepare for the upcoming season and the ongoing adjustments to their offensive line. The team aims to ensure that Darrisaw recovers fully before the regular season commences.
