Vinesh Phogat's Cas Verdict Delayed Again

The Court of Arbitration for Sport, also known as CAS, has postponed its ruling in wrestler Vinesh Phogat‘s case once more. The new date set for the verdict is August 16, according to an official statement from the Indian Olympic Association.

This delay follows a previous postponement that had pushed the date to August 13. The CAS had allowed the sole arbitrator, Dr. Annabelle Bennett, to take more time to reach a decision regarding Vinesh’s appeal.

Vinesh is seeking to receive a joint silver medal for her performance at the Paris Olympic Games. She faced Cuban wrestler Yusneylis Guzman Lopez in the semifinals of the women’s 50kg competition but was disqualified from the final after being found 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in.

Just a day before her weigh-in, Vinesh performed exceptionally well in her opening match, securing a victory that put her in a strong position for the finals.

Support for Vinesh continues to pour in. Indian hockey player PR Sreejesh recently commented on the situation, expressing that Vinesh truly deserves a medal for her strength and efforts to reach the final.

As everyone eagerly awaits the outcome of this case, thoughts are with Vinesh and her journey as an athlete during this challenging time.
