Vinícius Jr.’s Future with Real Madrid Looks Promising Amid Saudi League Speculation

Madrid, Spain – Brazilian forward Vinícius Jr.’s potential move to the Saudi Pro League is now deemed increasingly unlikely, according to multiple sources from ESPN. With no recent contact between his representatives and the Saudi league, discussions regarding a new contract with Real Madrid are progressing.
Vinícius Jr., currently under contract with Real Madrid until 2027, previously postponed decisions about his future as he considered offers from the Saudi league. Initial outreach from Saudi representatives occurred last year, but since December 2024, there has been no follow-up, as reported by ESPN.
The last known point of contact between Vinícius’ camp and the Saudi Pro League was with Saad Al Lazeez, the league’s vice-chairman who resigned in March 2025. Meanwhile, Real Madrid has actively approached Vinícius’ representatives about a potential contract extension, presenting an offer close to his current salary of €17 million ($18.6 million) annually after tax, which includes bonuses related to recent accolades.
Following Madrid’s proposal, Vinícius’ representatives submitted a counter-offer which sources described as significantly different. Madrid has yet to respond, suggesting they want to evaluate the player’s performance before making any further decisions. The team is engaged in a fierce competition for three major trophies this season, namely La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.
“I’m very relaxed because I have a contract until 2027, and I hope we can renew my contract as soon as possible because I’m happy here,” Vinícius stated during a press conference last month.
This past weekend, Vinícius faced a challenging moment during a La Liga match when he had a penalty saved in Madrid’s 2-1 defeat against Barcelona.
As Madrid prepares to face Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois acknowledged the team’s focus on set pieces, which have proved a challenge for Madrid this season. “We know how we have to try to defend against them. The first thing is not conceding many corners. Then it’s about concentration, being active,” Courtois said.
Despite their struggles, Vinícius continues to receive backing from his club’s management. Coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed confidence in Vinícius’ ability to bounce back from recent performances, stating that the player tends to excel in crucial matches following setbacks.
Vinícius’ teammate Kylian Mbappé, who turned down a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League in 2023, emphasized the importance of Vinícius to Real Madrid. “I can’t imagine Madrid without Vini. We play well together,” Mbappé said in an interview, reflecting their strong on-pitch partnership.
As the season progresses, the uncertainty regarding Vinícius’ contract situation remains, but the apparent lack of interest from Saudi clubs suggests a renewal at Madrid is becoming more likely.
