Golden State Warriors Victory Celebration

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – The Golden State Warriors bounced back from a tough loss to the Philadelphia 76ers with a commanding 119-101 win over the Charlotte Hornets on March 3, 2025, at the Spectrum Center.

Six Warriors players scored in double figures, showcasing the team’s depth following their recent struggles. Buddy Hield led the charge with 22 points, connecting on 5-of-9 three-point attempts. His performance, particularly in the second half, proved crucial in maintaining the Warriors’ lead as the Hornets attempted a comeback.

Star guard Stephen Curry contributed 21 points and dished out 10 assists, playing a pivotal role during critical moments of the game. Curry’s ability to facilitate plays helped stabilize the Warriors during stretches when they faced difficulty shooting.

Second-year player Brandin Podziemski added to the offensive contribution with 19 points and a notable 11 rebounds, demonstrating his development in the league. Draymond Green, recognized as the Player of the Game, recorded 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists, marking his highest rebound total since November 27, 2024.

Although the Warriors started strong, leading 28-21 after the first quarter, they faced challenges in the second quarter as the Hornets began to close the gap. They struggled with their three-point shooting, hitting only 6-of-28 attempts before halftime, yet managed a 58-49 lead at the break.

Coach Steve Kerr had to navigate through injury setbacks with Podziemski and Gary Payton II both facing issues during the game. While Podziemski returned, Payton II exited after sustaining facial trauma during a collision with LaMelo Ball.

The third quarter was marred by mistakes leading to a technical foul for Kerr and a Flagrant 1 for Green. However, Hield’s back-to-back three-pointers helped the Warriors regain momentum, ending the quarter up 86-77.

In the fourth quarter, the Warriors extended their lead and finished the game decisively. The victory improved the Warriors’ record to 33-28, securing them the sixth seed in the Western Conference as they look forward to their upcoming matchup against the New York Knicks.

Jimmy Butler III, who returned after missing the previous game due to back soreness, added 13 points. While his shots weren’t as effective as usual, his presence invigorated the team.

Although the win was described as “not pretty,” it helped reaffirm the Warriors’ potential as they approach the playoff push. Hield’s explosive scoring, Curry’s consistent playmaking, and Green’s all-around contributions underscore the team’s capability when firing on all cylinders. Following the game, the Warriors’ social media channels commended Green’s performance, signaling optimism for the remainder of the season.

As the Warriors prepare to face the Knicks, there is palpable excitement among fans and players alike for the challenges that lie ahead.
