Warriors Hopeful for Jimmy Butler’s Return in Game 4

SAN FRANCISCO – Warriors star Jimmy Butler is expected to return for Game 4 against the Houston Rockets on Monday night after missing Saturday’s contest due to a pelvic contusion. Butler was originally listed as questionable, but he participated fully in the morning shootaround, according to reports.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr indicated he was hopeful Butler would play, noting, “He’s not on a minutes restriction (if he plays). It’ll be based on how he’s feeling.” Butler’s injury occurred during a hard fall in Game 2 when he leaped for a rebound and was undercut by Houston’s Amen Thompson.
During Game 3, which the Warriors won 104-93, Butler watched from the bench in street clothes as his team reclaimed a 2-1 series lead. Kerr commented on Butler’s possible return, stating, “I trust those guys and trust Jimmy, and we’ll see if he can go tonight.”
In Butler’s absence, Stephen Curry stepped up, scoring 36 points and logging 41 minutes in Game 4. Kerr expressed a desire to lighten Curry’s burden, hoping Butler could take on more minutes if he returns. “Hopefully we can get that down to 35 minutes,” Kerr said.
Butler has had a significant impact on the Warriors since his arrival, helping the team to a 23-8 record after he joined on February 8. He averaged 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists during the regular season, and his presence has bolstered the team’s defense, which leads the league in defensive rating.
As the Warriors prepare for this critical game, they are also managing other injuries. Both Curry and Gary Payton II are listed as available despite dealing with thumb injuries. With Butler back in the lineup, the Warriors aim to solidify their lead in the series.
