Warriors’ Kuminga Out Again as Key Matchup Approaches

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Golden State Warriors will be without forward Jonathan Kuminga for their matchup against the Sacramento Kings tonight due to a foot injury. Kuminga has not played since sustaining an ankle injury during a pre-game shoot-around prior to the Warriors’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 4.
According to Warriors’ beat writer Anthony Slater, “Jonathan Kuminga remains out for the Warriors tomorrow night in Sacramento. Every other rotation player is available for both the Kings and Warriors as they exit the All-Star break with identical 28-27 records.” The Warriors are looking to bounce back and even the season series against the Kings, having lost both prior matchups this year.
Kuminga, who is averaging 16.8 points and five rebounds per game this season, has been a crucial offensive asset for the Warriors, currently positioned in the Western Conference playoff race. Golden State hopes to leverage the recent addition of star forward Jimmy Butler to support them in Kuminga’s absence.
On a positive note, Kuminga participated in practice on Wednesday, his first since the injury. The Warriors’ medical staff indicated that his return will depend on his recovery progress. Until he can rejoin the team, Golden State will rely on players like Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Buddy Hield to fill in his role.
The Warriors’ upcoming game against the Kings is pivotal as they strive to improve their record to 1-2 in the season series and look to balance their record to 12-11 without Kuminga on the court. The game is set to tip-off at 7 PM PT.
