Warriors Down To 12 Men In Pre Season Challenge Against Tigers

The Wests Tigers and Warriors clashed in a pre-season challenge match, with the Tigers emerging victorious over a Warriors team that played most of the game with only 12 players. Led by new coach Benji Marshall, the Tigers showed promising signs in the 18-16 win, despite it being a pre-season fixture with both teams resting key players in the second half.

Aidan Sezer and Jayden Sullivan controlled the game for the Tigers, with Sezer scoring a try alongside Alex Seyfarth early in the match. Stefano Utoikamanu’s strong decoy runs set the platform for the Tigers’ attacking plays, while Api Koroisau displayed his creativity in setting up scoring opportunities.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, returning to league after a stint in rugby union, impressed in his new role at centre for the Warriors. Marcelo Montoya led the side admirably after the Warriors were reduced to 12 men following Zyon Maiu’u’s send off for a high shot on Declan Casey.

The Tigers showcased improved defensive efforts under Marshall’s coaching, though they conceded two quick tries that gave the Warriors hope. Both teams had moments of indiscipline, with Samuela Fainu sin-binned for the Tigers and Zyon Maiu’u receiving a red card for the Warriors.

Sezer’s return to the NRL was met with positive reviews, as the experienced halfback guided the Tigers’ attack alongside young talent Sullivan. The match highlighted the potential of the Tigers’ new signings and the resilience of the Warriors playing with reduced numbers.
