Quinten Post Golden State Warriors Game Action

San Francisco, CA – Despite a mixed performance, Quinten Post showcased his potential during the Golden State Warriors‘ 115-110 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night. Post, filling in for the injured Brandin Podziemski, played just over 20 minutes but struggled offensively, finishing 0-of-5 from beyond the arc and scoring six points.

The game took a tense turn in the final minute when Post, who had been subbed in for fouled-out teammate Gui Santos, missed a crucial three-point attempt. With Golden State clinging to a one-point lead, Post found himself open in the corner after a drive by Jimmy Butler but air-balled the shot. The miss led to a layup by Cade Cunningham, which briefly gave the Pistons the advantage.

Despite the disappointing finish, it’s worth noting that Post started strong, scoring two baskets within the first two minutes of the game. However, instead of relying on his well-known 3-point shooting, Post executed successful floaters from just inside the paint after receiving the ball rolling off screens set by Stephen Curry.

Post’s ability to finish inside adds a new dimension to the Warriors’ offense. With teams often double-teaming Curry, the Warriors have lacked a center who can exploit these defensive schemes effectively. In comparison, Kevon Looney and Trayce Jackson-Davis tend to kick the ball out or attempt contested layups, rather than execute floaters like Post.

Draymond Green is occasionally known to use floaters, although his efficiency drops below 47% on shots within the paint but outside the restricted area. Post’s offensive skillset suggests he is more than just a perimeter shooter, revealing his potential as a versatile scorer.

If the 52nd overall pick can consistently make those floaters and strengthen his defensive game, the Warriors might finally find the long-term starting center they have been searching for amidst their rebuilding efforts. As the season progresses, Post’s development will be crucial for the team’s success.
