Quinten Post Steph Curry Golden State Warriors Game

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a surprising lineup shakeup, Golden State Warriors rookie Quinten Post made his NBA debut alongside superstar Steph Curry during Wednesday night’s 123-117 loss to the Sacramento Kings. The 24-year-old center, drafted 52nd overall out of Boston College, played a career-high 15 minutes, showcasing his potential as a stretch center.

Post, who had never shared the court with Curry before, not even in practice, finished with five points, six rebounds, and a block. His performance included a 3-pointer assisted by Curry, highlighting the budding chemistry between the two. “It was interesting tonight,” Curry said postgame. “Besides the one turnover I had in the third [quarter], when I thought he was going to roll, and he popped, and we got confused, that was building chemistry. We’ll develop that chemistry for sure.”

The Warriors, struggling with the fifth-worst offense in the NBA over the past two months, have been searching for a reliable frontcourt presence. With Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga sidelined and Kevon Looney leaving Wednesday’s game due to illness, Post’s opportunity arose. Head coach Steve Kerr praised Post’s versatility, saying, “He changes the look out there. He can hit a 3. He can pass. You saw him battling Sabonis. It’s a different look, and I’d like to give him some time.”

Post’s debut comes at a critical time for the Warriors, who have been exploring trade options for a stretch center. Names like Nikola Vucevic of the Chicago Bulls have been floated, but no deals have materialized. For now, the team is leaning on Post, who has impressed in the G League, to fill the void. “Playing with a space big is a luxury,” Curry added. “You have a counter to aggressive defenses that want to take the ball out of my hands. It definitely helps.”

As the Warriors look to rebound from their recent struggles, Post’s development could provide a much-needed spark. Kerr confirmed plans to give the rookie more minutes in upcoming games, offering him a chance to solidify his role alongside Curry and the Warriors’ core.
