SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The Golden State Warriors have officially signed forward Kevin Knox to a second 10-day contract, announced the team on Saturday. This decision comes just as Knox’s initial deal was set to expire, allowing him to participate in the Warriors’ upcoming game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

Knox, who has been affiliated with the Warriors since July, played a key role during his first 10 days with the team, showcasing his offensive abilities. The 24-year-old forward scored 23 points and recorded eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks across four games, with an impressive shooting percentage of 52.9% from the field.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors were motivated to re-sign Knox after his strong performance during limited playing time. He averaged 19.1 points and 7.3 rebounds while playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Warriors’ G League affiliate, earlier in the season.

“If I perform better and play better up top, I won’t be here,” Knox remarked in a January interview, emphasizing his dedication to improving his skills during his time in the G League. “Being down here, I don’t really take it as a demotion or anything. I take it as you come down here to learn under a great system.”

Head coach Steve Kerr expressed confidence in Knox’s potential after his contributions during a recent game against the Sacramento Kings. “So proud of Kevin,” Kerr stated. “He’s been through a lot, coming around and committing to his time in Santa Cruz and getting better and improving. I think he can help us.”

As part of this new agreement, Knox will earn $150,179, and the Warriors will incur a cap hit of $119,972. The team is managing a hard cap and will navigate their roster strategically. With another player’s 10-day contract set to expire, the Warriors will temporarily have 12 players on their roster until Knox’s signing is finalized.

As the Warriors aim for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs, Knox’s contributions will be vital. His ability to step up when needed, especially during crunch-time moments, will be a crucial asset as Golden State pushes for postseason contention.
