Warriors Surge in Standings, Eyeing Higher Playoff Seed

San Francisco, California — The Golden State Warriors are experiencing a second-half surge that has bolstered their playoff aspirations. With a string of impressive performances, including six wins in their last seven games, the Warriors have climbed from the 10th seed to the 6th seed in the Western Conference standings.
The Warriors’ resurgence coincides with a critical mid-season addition: Jimmy Butler, whose impact has been felt immediately on both ends of the court. Butler’s presence, combined with the prolific scoring of Stephen Curry and the defensive acumen of Draymond Green, has revitalized the team’s performance since the All-Star break.
“We’ve been playing connected basketball, like we did during our championship runs,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr stated. “Jimmy has been a significant part of that. He understands the game and brings energy that lifts everyone around him.”
As of mid-March, the Warriors are just three games behind the fifth-seed Houston Rockets, who have struggled recently. The Rockets have lost three consecutive games, while the Warriors are gaining momentum after recent victories over the Charlotte Hornets in back-to-back road games.
“It’s about focusing on what we can control,” Curry emphasized. “We can’t worry about other teams; we just have to keep winning.”
The Warriors are now in a solid position to avoid the play-in tournament, which was their stated goal at the start of the season. However, the team is keeping a close watch on the standings. With only 20 games remaining, they are eyeing a potential jump to the fifth seed.
“The Rockets seem to be faltering, and if we maintain our current form, the fifth seed is definitely within reach,” Kerr added.
Potentially complicating matters, the Memphis Grizzlies hold the fourth seed with a more significant lead. However, they too have faced struggles, dropping several recent games, which could create further opportunities for the Warriors to rise.
“Every game matters now, and it’s crucial we keep our foot on the gas,” Butler noted. “If we keep playing together and pushing each other, we can climb even higher.”
As the postseason approaches, the Warriors must contend not only with their immediate rivals but also with the playoff pressure that comes with their status as former champions. With the team finding its rhythm, fans are beginning to believe that a playoff run is not just possible, but plausible.
“This is the time we need to remind everyone who we are,” Curry said. “We’ve been through tough times before, and now we’re starting to hit our stride at the right moment.”
