SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Seth Curry just three days before the start of the 2025-26 regular season. The team cut Curry, along with LJ Cryer, as they navigate financial constraints under the current salary cap.

The Warriors are hard-capped at the second apron of the salary cap, which limits their roster flexibility. They cannot retain an additional veteran minimum contract until early November, making this move necessary to comply with league rules.

Despite his release, it is expected that Curry will return to the team in the upcoming month once financial conditions allow. Known for his sharpshooting, Seth Curry is the younger brother of Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and has made 945 three-pointers in his career at an impressive 43.3% shooting percentage, ranking seventh in NBA history.

Seth Curry has an extensive career, having played for ten teams in the NBA, including a significant tenure with the Charlotte Hornets last season. He averaged 6.5 points per game in 2024-25 and was impressively shooting 45.6% from three-point range.

This offseason, the Warriors signed Seth to enhance their perimeter shooting and fulfill Stephen’s long-standing wish to play alongside his brother. However, recent roster moves necessitated the waiver.

Once utilized again, Seth will have the opportunity to contribute to the Warriors’ bench unit, marking the first time he and Stephen will be teammates in the NBA.
