P.j. Washington Mavericks Grizzlies Game January 6 2025

P.J. Washington delivered a standout performance despite the Dallas Mavericks‘ 121-116 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night. The forward scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and added five assists and three steals in 32 minutes of play.

Washington’s effort marked his fifth double-double of the season, showcasing his versatility on both ends of the court. He shot 7-of-22 from the field, including 2-of-8 from beyond the arc, and made his only free throw attempt. Despite his shooting struggles, Washington’s contributions in rebounding and playmaking kept the Mavericks competitive throughout the game.

“P.J. was everywhere tonight,” said Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. “He gave us energy on the boards and made some key plays when we needed them. We just couldn’t close it out.”

The Grizzlies, led by Ja Morant‘s 28 points and 12 assists, managed to hold off a late Mavericks rally. Washington’s performance, however, highlighted his growing role as a key contributor for Dallas. Over his last three games, he has averaged 14.7 field goal attempts per game, underscoring his importance in the team’s offensive scheme.

Fantasy basketball managers also took note of Washington’s all-around game. His rebounding, particularly in January, has been a bright spot, with an average of 10.0 rebounds per game this month. With a team-high usage rate of 23.5%, Washington remains a reliable option in category leagues.

The Mavericks will look to bounce back in their next game, while Washington aims to build on his strong individual performances as the season progresses.
