T.j. Watt Nfl Career Sacks

CHICAGO — T.J. Watt made history on Sunday by surpassing his older brother J.J. Watt in career sacks during a game against the Chicago Bears. With a strip sack against Bears quarterback Caleb Williams early in the second quarter, T.J. recorded his 115th career sack, edging past J.J.’s total of 114.5 sacks.

The pivotal play occurred just 14 seconds into the quarter. After T.J. caused a fumble, teammate Nick Herbig recovered the ball and scored the Steelers’ second touchdown of the game. J.J. was in the broadcast booth for CBS during the game, adding a special significance to the moment.

“If he’s going to pass my record, that’s one hell of a way to do it, with a strip-sack causing a touchdown. Good for you, T.J.,” J.J. Watt said during the broadcast.

Since sacks became an official stat in 1982, the Watt brothers are the only siblings to each record over 100 career sacks, according to ESPN Research. This season, T.J. has already racked up seven sacks and three forced fumbles.

“This game was really important for me not just as a player but also personally,” T.J. said after the game. “Having my brother here made it even more special.”

The Steelers went on to win the game 31-28 against the Bears, marking a highlight in T.J.’s already impressive career.
