Stan Wawrinka Borna Coric Tennis Final

Aix-en-Provence, France — Stan Wawrinka will attempt to make history this Sunday at the Aix-en-Provence Challenger, seeking to become the oldest champion in ATP Challenger Tour history. The 40-year-old Swiss player has shown impressive form throughout the tournament, reaching the final against Croatia’s Borna Coric.

Wawrinka secured his place in the final with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Borna Gojo in the semifinals, marking his first final appearance at any level since 2020. Throughout the tournament, Wawrinka has dropped only one set, showcasing his competitive spirit on clay. In his words, “I’m super happy with my level and to be able to play a final tomorrow. It’s been a great week so far.”

His opponent, Coric, is looking for his fourth Challenger title of the season after recently overcoming Peruvian qualifier Rodrigo Pacheco in the semifinals. Coric has been in strong form, aiming to cap off a solid tournament with a victory against Wawrinka, a player he has faced five times before.

Wawrinka holds a 4-1 advantage in their head-to-head meetings, including a win just five weeks ago at the Naples Challenger that ended Coric’s 16-match winning streak. “It’s going to be a big challenge against Borna,” Wawrinka said. “He’s such a good player, such a big fighter.”

The final is set to begin at 2:20 p.m. local time, and fans can watch it streamed live. A win for Wawrinka would mark a significant milestone in his storied career, while Coric seeks to further cement his resurgence on the Challenger circuit.
