MIAMI, Fla. — Andrew Wiggins delivered a stellar performance in his return to the Miami Heat lineup, scoring 30 points during the team’s game against the Houston Rockets on March 21, 2025. However, the Heat fell short, extending their losing streak to ten games with a 102-98 defeat.

After missing two games due to a left leg contusion, Wiggins showcased his skills in the second quarter, where he scored 20 points, marking his highest-scoring quarter in his career. Wiggins shot 10 of 13 from the field, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, and converted 8 of 9 free throw attempts.

“It felt good to be back out there,” Wiggins said after the game, acknowledging his impactful return. Coach Erik Spoelstra praised Wiggins, saying, “You can see the possibilities. He can do a lot of things that our team needs. He creates his own shot, he can get downhill, he spaces the floor.”

Wiggins displayed agility and scoring ability throughout the game, adding two rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal over 30 minutes. His aggressive play included driving layups against Dillon Brooks, a standout defender for the Rockets. The performance indicated a positive resurgence for Wiggins, reminiscent of when he was the primary scorer for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Despite Wiggins’ standout night, the Heat’s struggles continued. Their current 29-40 record raises concerns over the team’s offensive consistency and overall cohesion, especially after trading Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors in February.

John Wall discussed Wiggins’ significant impact on NBA TV’s halftime report, stating, “He’s being the guy, as we said, needing to be like when he was with Minnesota as the main guy.” Former NBA player Danny Green echoed this sentiment, noting, “He didn’t settle. He got to the rim,” emphasizing Wiggins’ ability to earn trips to the free-throw line.

The Heat have employed 23 different lineups this season, indicating broader challenges with consistency and strategy as they aim for playoff contention. Spoelstra remarked, “Every time we get knocked down, we get up off the mat. It’s a resilient team, and we understand we need to do more.”

As Miami gears up for their next game against the Warriors, Wiggins will need to maintain his momentum and inspire his teammates to elevate their performance. His leadership and scoring ability will be crucial as the Heat seek to recover from their recent struggles and aim for a late-season resurgence.
