Will Ferrell Joins Celebrity Investors in Leeds United’s Journey Back to Premier League
Hollywood actor Will Ferrell has added to the star-studded list of investors backing Leeds United as they strive to make their way back to the Premier League.
Joining the likes of Gladiator star Russell Crowe, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, and golfers Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, Ferrell has acquired a stake in Leeds through the club’s owners, 49ers Enterprises.
Ferrell, known for his roles in comedic hits like Elf and Anchorman, is already a co-owner of Major League Soccer team Los Angeles FC.
The actor displayed his fondness for English football during his visits to various matches, including Manchester City‘s game against Aston Villa last season where he met City midfielder Jack Grealish.
Recently, Ferrell was seen cheering on Wrexham in the National League, a club owned by his friends Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Leeds, who narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League, are now gearing up for a playoff match against Norwich as they chase a return to the top flight.
The team, managed by Daniel Farke, will face Norwich in the first leg at Carrow Road next Sunday.
Meanwhile, Ipswich‘s victory over Huddersfield ensured their long-awaited comeback to the Premier League after 22 years, a team affectionately called the Tractor Boys.
