Utah Jazz Coach Will Hardy

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Coach Will Hardy will remain with the Utah Jazz through the 2030-31 season after signing a multi-year contract extension on Monday. Hardy, who completed his third season leading the team, is a pivotal figure in the Jazz’s ongoing rebuild.

The 37-year-old head coach joined the Jazz in 2022 following successful stints as an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs. During his tenure, Hardy has focused on player development, earning praise from the team’s management and players alike.

“Will is an incredible leader, great communicator — especially with our younger players,” said Jazz governor Ryan Smith. “He has been a tremendous partner to Danny (Ainge), Justin (Zanik), and me. There is no one we would rather have leading us to our ultimate goal of winning an NBA championship here in Utah.”

Despite facing challenges, including a league-worst record of 17-65 this past season, Hardy is seen as a rising star in the coaching ranks. His current coaching record stands at 85-161, equating to a .346 winning percentage.

“I love Utah and the Jazz organization and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue to help guide our team,” Hardy stated. “I believe in what we are building. We have a talented group of coaches and people all working to build a championship program for this incredible fan base.”

The Jazz, who are positioned to possibly acquire a top-10 draft pick once again, are committed to Hardy’s vision for the future. This extension reflects their confidence in his ability to foster talent and reshape the team’s identity.

“My conviction has never been stronger in terms of wanting to execute our long-term vision,” Hardy expressed during a recent media availability. The Jazz management remains optimistic about the franchise’s direction under Hardy’s leadership.
