Northeast Winter Storm Forecast February 2025

NEW YORK, Feb. 12, 2025 — Following a winter storm that left over 6 inches of snow in parts of southern New Jersey, meteorologists are predicting additional inclement weather for the New York City area next week. The latest forecasts from the FOX Forecast Center indicate that three separate storm systems could bring significant snowfall and ice to millions from coast to coast.

On Tuesday night, snowfall totals varied significantly across the region, with Central Park in New York City recording 1.4 inches, while regions in South Jersey saw accumulations exceed six inches. Long Island received 2-3 inches, while parts north and west of New York City observed little snow, according to the National Weather Service.

“Next week is shaping up to have several opportunities for snow in New York City,” said FOX 5 NY meteorologist Audrey Puente. “As we approach Tuesday night, our weather patterns will start to shift significantly.”

The first of the impending storms is expected to form on Monday, February 10, over the Plains before moving towards the Northeast. Initial predictions indicate that some areas in New York City may face double-digit snowfall accumulations, particularly from Monday, February 10, through Monday, February 17.

Puente detailed that the incoming system will first affect the Valley on Tuesday before sweeping into the Northeast from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. A winter storm watch has already been issued for portions of New Jersey, scheduled to take effect Tuesday afternoon and last until Wednesday afternoon.

As the first storm wanes on Wednesday, forecasters anticipate that a second storm will already be in development over the Plains. This subsequent storm is expected to move into the Northeast by Thursday, adding to the winter weather challenges faced by residents.

<p“The upcoming storms are still being monitored closely, and while we do have predictions, exact snowfall amounts remain uncertain,” Puente added, emphasizing the variables still at play with each system.

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service warns that the active weather pattern is likely to persist across much of the country for the remainder of the month. With no sign of respite for the heartland through to the East Coast, residents are advised to stay updated on forecast changes as the week progresses.
