MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team has quickly emerged as a formidable contender in the Big Ten this season, boasting a remarkable 19-5 overall record and a 9-4 mark in conference play. As of February 13, 2025, the Badgers have secured the No. 16 ranking in the AP Top 25, with projections suggesting they could earn a No. 4 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Under head coach Greg Gard’s leadership, the veteran-reliant squad has developed a winning strategy that has propelled them deep into the season. This Saturday, they face what many consider to be their toughest challenge yet: a road game against a top opponent at Mackey Arena.

“We’ve been putting in the work and it’s paying off,” Gard said in a press conference. “The team is showing resilience and a commitment to improving every game.”

In addition to the basketball team’s success, the Wisconsin Badgers football program has been actively reshaping its roster through the transfer portal. With significant upgrades made in critical areas such as the front seven, cornerback, quarterback, and tight end positions, the team is now shifting its focus to building for the future, particularly the 2026 recruiting class.

The transition has not been without its challenges. Recently, the program suffered a setback when general manager Max Stienecker left for an executive position with the USC Trojans, marking a significant loss for Wisconsin’s recruiting efforts.

“It’s tough to lose someone with Max’s expertise, but we’ll adapt and keep pushing forward,” said Luke Fickell, head football coach.

As the football program grapples with these changes, they face what is anticipated to be a challenging 2025 schedule, putting additional pressure on Fickell as he enters his third year.

In a bid to engage with the fan base, an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session is being hosted where fans can submit questions regarding the Badgers’ athletic programs. Fans are encouraged to drop their inquiries into the comments section over the next 24 hours as insights will be provided regarding the status of both basketball and football teams.
