Wisconsin Football Junior Day Event

Madison, WisconsinAndrean High School offensive lineman, Ben Novak, is fully immersed in his future after reaffirming his commitment to the University of Wisconsin. Following his commitment last fall, Novak returned to Madison for a Junior Day event in late January, where he gained deeper insights into what life will be like as a Badger.

“One of the things that I really enjoyed about this Junior Day trip was some of the quality time with the somewhat new coaching staff,” Novak said. He appreciated the opportunity to engage with offensive coordinator Coach Grimes and to discuss the evolving playbook. “I really like Coach Grimes, I like the scheme, and how he is developing this new playbook. I like the direction of how Wisconsin football is heading,” he added.

Building relationships with the coaching staff is crucial for Novak, as he prepares for his transition to college football. During his visit, he interacted with current players in similar positions, getting a glimpse into his future. “I had a lot of time spent with the new, 2025 early graduates from the offensive line. I spent time with them, and even attended a basketball game, where I could pick their brains on what to expect next year,” Novak explained.

The atmosphere at the Kohl Center during the Wisconsin basketball game was electric. “The stadium was definitely rocking! You could feel the energy coming from the crowd. Every big play, turnover, and rebound radiated energy onto the court,” he noted, drawing parallels to what he anticipates experiencing on the football field.

Reflecting on his Junior Day trip, Novak said it clarified his vision for the next year. “It kind of makes that picture that much more clear and vivid. The more I am down there with the coaching staff and the commits, the easier that transition will be for me,” he stated. He recognizes that challenges lie ahead but feels motivated by the connections he’s built. “After that visit, I became even more motivated because I realized this is gonna be my home, and it’s real now! I’m mentally and physically preparing myself for the battles and struggles ahead,” he asserted.

Novak plans to return to Madison in June for another official visit with other key recruits, further solidifying his commitment to the program.

Meanwhile, Winneconne athlete, Ethan Schaffer, has been making headlines in high school football circles. This past fall, Schaffer garnered honorable mention All-State honors at quarterback and all-region recognition for his dual talents as a quarterback and defensive back. His skills gained national attention when he received an invitation to Nike’s Next Ones event in Louisiana, a showcase featuring top players from across the country.

“I was really excited about the opportunity, and I was honored that they saw me as the top player in the state of Wisconsin to choose. I felt like I showed that I belonged with that caliber of players,” Schaffer told Badger247. The experience not only validated his abilities but also set the stage for further opportunities in his athletic career.
