Wisconsin's Jack Gohlke Leads Oakland To Stunning Upset Victory In Ncaa Tournament

Wisconsin native Jack Gohlke emerged as the star of the NCAA Tournament first round, leading Oakland to a remarkable 80-76 upset victory over Kentucky in Pittsburgh.

Gohlke’s sensational performance included ten 3-pointers, nearly matching the tournament’s single-game record set by Jeff Fryer of Loyola Marymount in 1990 against Michigan. His sharpshooting prowess, with seven threes in the first half, propelled Oakland to the stunning win.

Next up for Gohlke and the Golden Grizzlies is a second-round matchup against North Carolina State this Saturday, continuing their unexpected tournament run.

Originally from Pewaukee, Gohlke honed his craft at Pewaukee High School before making a name for himself at Hillsdale College and now Oakland. His impressive stats and clutch shooting against a powerhouse like Kentucky have put him in the national spotlight.

The 24-year-old guard has primarily excelled from behind the arc, attempting a remarkable 347 three-point shots out of 355 total attempts this season. Gohlke’s shooting accuracy and consistency have been a significant factor in Oakland’s success.

Despite coming off the bench, Gohlke played a crucial role in Thursday’s victory, showcasing his experience and skill in crucial moments. His dedication to the game and ability to deliver under pressure have been key for Oakland’s tournament journey.

Prior to joining Oakland, Gohlke had a successful college career at Hillsdale College, where he showcased his scoring abilities and work ethic. His transition to Division I basketball has proven to be a game-changer for both himself and his team.

Gohlke’s partnership with coach Greg Kampe and his teammates, notably Grant Basile, has been instrumental in Oakland’s success. Basile, an all-state standout, has also made waves in the basketball world, further elevating Gohlke’s performance.

As Gohlke and Oakland gear up to face North Carolina State in the next round, the basketball world eagerly anticipates more stellar performances from this rising star from Wisconsin.
