Wisconsin’s Top Edge Rusher Target May Choose Michigan

Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Badgers are at risk of losing one of their top edge rusher targets for 2026 to a rival Big Ten team. McHale Blade, a standout from Chicago‘s Simeon High School, is reportedly leaning towards committing to the Michigan Wolverines following several recent visits.
Recruiting experts like Steve Wiltfong from On3 have predicted Blade’s commitment to Michigan after he visited Ann Arbor this past weekend. The prediction comes just a week after he toured the Badgers’ campus. Blade, who is considered a four-star recruit and one of the top 35 edge rushers nationally, had also taken an unofficial visit to Wisconsin during their spring showcase game in April.
Earlier in the recruiting process, Wisconsin secured a commitment from 2026 edge rusher Carmelow Reed. However, losing Blade would be a significant blow to the Badgers’ recruiting class. Blade expressed his excitement about Michigan, stating, “I always have a great time when I visit Ann Arbor, and it is starting to feel like home.”
During his recent visit, Blade focused on interacting with current players and learning more about the program. He noted the coaching staff’s transparency, mentioning they emphasized he is a priority for them. “Michigan is very high up on my list,” Blade said. “My main goal was to really just get around the players more, and I accomplished that goal this weekend.”
The Wolverines are intensifying their efforts as they aim to solidify their 2026 recruiting class. Following Blade’s visit, Michigan is also set to host other top prospects, including four-star running back Ryan Estrada later this month.
