Wistow Maze Honours Olympic Star Katarina Johnson Thompson

A special maze has been created at Wistow Maze in Leicester to celebrate the incredible talent of Team GB heptathlete, Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

This year’s maze is themed around the Olympics, with the design shaped like a javelin thrower, which is one of the events in heptathlon – the sport Katarina has competed in since the 2012 Olympics in London.

The fun attraction features 12 quiz boards scattered throughout three miles of pathways. These quizzes are all about Olympic host nations and their famous landmarks, making it a great way to learn while having fun.

Diana Brooks, who owns Wistow Maze, shared her excitement, saying, “This year, the Wistow Maze really has the winning combination of fun and learning, as well as being a celebration of one of the UK’s biggest sporting competitions.”

Once the season comes to an end, the maze will be harvested for cattle fodder and will be carefully redesigned for the next year using GPS satellite technology.

The maze will be open daily until September 1, after which it will only welcome visitors on weekends until September 15. This gives everyone a chance to experience the fun before it closes!

Katarina Johnson-Thompson, originally from Liverpool, finally claimed her Olympic heptathlon medal after a thrilling 800m race in Paris last Friday.
