Washington Wizards Marcus Smart Injury News

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Washington Wizards are set to face off against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night, but the team is faced with a significant challenge as they may be without key guard Marcus Smart due to a finger injury.

Smart, who has been dealing with a partial muscle tear in his finger, missed the Wizards’ previous game against the Toronto Raptors, marking the first time he has sat out in several weeks. The Wizards won the first game against the Raptors by one point but fell to them in the rematch by 15 points.

In his last appearance on the court, Smart played just 17 minutes, recording nine points on 2-of-7 shooting, along with four assists, one rebound, and one steal. His contributions, though limited, highlighted his essential role on the team. Smart joined the Wizards at the 2025 trade deadline after a brief stint with the Memphis Grizzlies but had been inactive for four consecutive games before making his return.

His averages over the last six games include 10 points, three assists, two rebounds, and one steal, while shooting 45% from the field. However, with his recent injury, his participation against the Pistons remains uncertain. The Wizards’ next game will tip off at 7:00 PM ET on March 11.

The Pistons, coming off a recent victory against the Portland Trail Blazers, are looking to extend their winning streak and remain competitive in the playoff hunt. Currently, they are closely trailing the Milwaukee Bucks and are eager to capitalize on their game against a Wizards team that is struggling.

Despite the Wizards’ difficulties, including a depleted lineup that also misses Khris Middleton, Richaun Holmes, and others, the team is still focused on demonstrating resilience and depth in the face of adversity.

“The upcoming game against Detroit will test our team’s depth and resilience during a pivotal stretch of the season,” said a Wizards spokesperson. “We need to stay focused and give our best effort, regardless of the challenges.”

As the game approaches, both teams are eager to secure a crucial victory as they navigate through the latter part of the season. The absence of Smart could significantly impact the Wizards’ performance, adding to the already intense atmosphere of competition in the NBA.
