2025 Wnba Draft Prospects Basketball

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — As the 2025 WNBA Draft approaches on April 14, the focus is heavily on the guard position, with early predictions suggesting that the top two picks will likely be backcourt players. While the frontcourt pool appears shallower, it boasts incredible potential, particularly from younger international players poised for development.

The draft class features both collegiate stars and promising international talents. Dominique Malonga, an elite young prospect, is expected to make a significant impact in the WNBA, with many analysts believing her upsides could lead her to immediate fame.

In a recent discussion with The Athletic, six anonymous WNBA general managers offered their insights into the upcoming draft class. Evaluations from these executives spanned various players, including college standouts like Kiki Iriafen from USC and Aneesah Morrow from LSU.

“I like Feagin a lot. I think Feagin is a really good basketball player. She makes good decisions,” one general manager said, highlighting the contributions of South Carolina’s Feagin. “She’s a very underrated passer and a key to her team’s success.”

The focus on skills and performance leaps continues with Kiki Iriafen. “Her athleticism and scoring ability will easily translate to the next level,” another evaluator noted. “She has shown a true ability to create offense and is relentless on the glass.”

Iriafen’s development has been promising throughout the latter part of the season, with one manager commenting on her improved shooting mechanics. “Her footwork and size are impressive, and the more she can shoot effectively from various ranges, the harder she becomes to guard,” he said.

The dynamics of the draft may shift as teams evaluate candidates such as Malonga, who is viewed as a ‘dominating’ presence in the paint. “She exhibits elite size and mobility with the potential to score effectively both around the basket and from the three-point line,” praised a talent evaluator. However, questions regarding her commitment to consistent quality in the WNBA remain.

The generational gap is evident, especially with younger international players like Malonga in the equation. “She’s arguably one of the most talented players in this draft class,” one GM stated, foreseeing her as an impact player with a high ceiling.

Whether established or prospective players make their mark will be key to the 2025 draft. Ajsa Sivka from TCU rounds out the discussion with her blend of size and skill: “Sivka has shown great shooting ability, but there are concerns regarding her defensive capabilities,” noted an analyst. “Her potential to impact the game over the long term is tangible.”

As the basketball community anticipates the draft, the spotlight will remain on these talented prospects whose performances can alter the trajectories of their respective programs and careers.
