Wnba 2025 Predictions And Awards

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The 2025 WNBA season is gearing up, and league general managers have shared their predictions in an annual survey. Among the standout picks, the Minnesota Lynx emerge as the title favorites, with star Napheesa Collier favored to win the MVP award.

The Lynx, who reached the Finals last year, received 60% of the votes for the team expected to win the championship. The New York Liberty followed with 20%, while the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces tied at 10% each.

Collier, celebrated for her recent achievements, was selected as the favorite for the MVP award, securing 67% of the votes. Last season, she was an All-Star and the runner-up for MVP. A’ja Wilson of the Aces garnered 25% of the votes, with Caitlin Clark of the Fever receiving 8%.

The survey reflected the GMs’ insight into the potential impact of players entering the league. Paige Bueckers, who was the first pick in this year’s draft, is heavily favored to win the Rookie of the Year title with 73% of the vote. She is anticipated to form a strong backcourt with Arike Ogunbowale in Dallas.

Interestingly, the GMs also see Dominique Malonga, the second overall pick, as a potential breakout star in five years, with 60% predicting she will be the best player from this draft class.

The Fever, buoyed by the arrival of Clark last season, have been recognized not just for their signings but also as the team most likely to be enjoyable to watch and the most improved overall.

With the season starting Friday, the Lynx’s defensive prowess is a critical factor in their success. Their coach, Cheryl Reeve, received 83% of the votes as the best coach in the league, underscoring her strategic gameplay.

The matchup between the Lynx and Liberty is seen as a likely Finals scenario, with both teams excelling in recent seasons. The WNBA’s evolution and growth, particularly surrounding superstars like Collier and Clark, suggest an exciting season ahead.
