US Women Win $1 Million at The Soccer Tournament Again

CARY, North Carolina — The US Women‘s National Team captured back-to-back titles at The Soccer Tournament (TST) on June 9, 2025, clinching the $1 million prize with a 3-0 victory against Bumpy Pitch FC. The win was highlighted by a crucial goal from 20-year-old midfielder Evelyn Shores.
"I feel so surreal. It was such a team effort. This has been so fun all around. I’m just so glad I could help us win it," Shores said after the match. Her goal in the final came during target score time, a unique rule that has become a defining feature of the tournament.
The tournament, which features a seven-a-side format, included 48 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams competing in fast-paced games designed to keep fans engaged. Throughout the competition, scores are determined by a target score method, which requires teams to reach a specific goal after regulation time ends.
Captain Heather O’Reilly played a pivotal role in organizing the US Women’s team yet again. "This is our third year in the tournament," O’Reilly told The Athletic. "Last year we won and this year we have built on that success by bringing in both veterans and young talent."
O’Reilly’s team included legendary players like Carli Lloyd and Ali Krieger in addition to young prospects like Shores, who has recently found success in international play.
Founded by TBT Enterprises, TST aims to create a dynamic soccer experience, especially for younger audiences. The tournament has rapidly evolved since its inception in 2022, expanding to include a larger women’s division this year.
O’Reilly and her team have not only aimed for competitiveness but have pushed for equal prize money, which was achieved partly due to O’Reilly’s advocacy. “Don’t even do it at all if you’re not going to do it equally,” she emphasized.
On Monday evening, the tension peaked as the US Women faced Bumpy Pitch FC Women in the finals. Shores’ performance reaffirmed her talent, following her recent contributions to the USWNT under-23 team.
The success of TST signals an intriguing potential future for soccer, with more innovations possibly aimed at engaging a younger fanbase. "We’ll see what the future brings. But it is an interesting idea. I think a lot of people are thinking, maybe this is the future of the sport in some way and that’s amazing," O’Reilly commented.
