Worcester Massachusetts Snowstorm January 2025

WORCESTER, Mass. — A fast-moving snowstorm blanketed Worcester in a fresh layer of light snow overnight, leaving city crews scrambling to clear roads and sidewalks by Monday morning. The storm, which swept through the region, prompted officials to urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

As of 6 a.m., main roads were reported clear, but secondary streets remained slick and untreated. Kimberly Bookman of WHDH reported that road crews were actively working to treat and clear the streets as the snowfall began to taper off. Sidewalks were also being cleared to ensure pedestrian safety.

“City crews are out in full force, but we’re asking everyone to stay home if they don’t need to be on the roads,” a city official said. The storm’s impact was felt across the region, with Worcester bearing the brunt of the snowfall.

No major accidents or injuries were reported as of Monday morning, but officials warned that untreated roads and sidewalks could remain hazardous throughout the day. Residents were advised to exercise caution and allow extra time for travel if necessary.

The snowstorm is the latest in a series of winter weather events to hit Massachusetts this season. Meteorologists predict that temperatures will remain below freezing, potentially causing icy conditions as the day progresses.
