LAS VEGAS, NV — WWE‘s WrestleMania 41 is just days away, featuring a lineup of 13 matches set to take place at Allegiant Stadium. The two-night event begins this weekend amid excitement and controversy surrounding the notable absences of key superstars.

Among the biggest names missing from this year’s card is Kevin Owens, who was originally scheduled to face Randy Orton. Owens had to undergo neck surgery, which has sidelined him from the competition. He has been a significant figure in WrestleMania events for years, having participated in multiple main events and title matches.

WWE’s decision to omit several prominent wrestlers from WrestleMania 41 has raised eyebrows. In addition to Owens, Rey Mysterio is also out due to a legitimate injury. Mysterio’s replacement in his match against El Grande Americano will be Rey Fenix.

“Owens’ absence is understandable given the need for surgery,” WWE commentator SP3 noted. “His rivalry with Orton was highly anticipated, and fans will undoubtedly miss this match.”

This year, WrestleMania 41 promises to be one of the most ambitious events yet, with broadcasting available on Peacock for $5.99. Despite the challenges posed by recent corporate changes following WWE’s merger with UFC, the promotion is experiencing a significant upswing in popularity.

“WrestleMania is a cultural phenomenon that attracts fans and newcomers alike,” said a WWE spokesperson. “We are excited to present a stacked card this weekend, including dramatic storylines and memorable matches.”

The main event for Night 1 features a triple-threat match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and CM Punk all vying for glory. Their backstories are intertwined with years of professional wrestling history, adding stakes to an already charged atmosphere.

The card’s primary storyline revolves around John Cena, who is set to face Cody Rhodes for the championship on Night 2. After announcing his retirement last year, Cena has returned with a vengeance and has turned heel for the first time in two decades, adding a layer of intensity to the bout.

“This is not just about the title; it’s very personal,” Cena claimed during a press conference this week. “I’ve worked too hard to be sidelined, and I’m ready to show fans a side they haven’t seen from me in years.”

Other highlights for Night 1 include Jey Uso versus Gunther in what promises to be a thrilling contest. Uso has transitioned from tag team wrestling to singles matches, acquiring the Intercontinental Championship and winning the Royal Rumble, setting the stage for his clash against the formidable Gunther.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Division also showcases a pivotal matchup featuring Tiffany Stratton defending her title against Charlotte Flair. This showdown comes amidst criticisms of inadequate storylines in the women’s category, which has historically drawn mixed reviews.

In a competitive atmosphere, Naomi faces Jade Cargill in a much-anticipated grudge match. This contest marks a significant moment as it will be the first non-title singles women’s match at WrestleMania in nearly two decades.

As the event draws closer, the backstage drama has intensified with reports emerging about a surprise attack on Bayley, who was supposed to partner with Lyra Valkyria against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. Whether this alteration was planned or spontaneous remains unclear.

“WWE is known for its unpredictability,” noted a veteran analyst. “Fans can expect the unexpected, and that includes surprises both inside and outside the ring.”

With anticipation building, WrestleMania 41 is positioned to deliver an unforgettable spectacle as it continues to shape the wrestling landscape amid the absence of some of its key players.
