WrestleMania 42 Moves from New Orleans to Unspecified Date

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana — WrestleMania 42 will no longer take place in New Orleans in 2026, according to a statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. The event is being rescheduled to a later, unspecified year, affecting WWE fans and local organizers.
The announcement came on Thursday and revealed that New Orleans will instead host WWE’s Money in the Bank event in 2026. The popular premium live event is expected to take place in June or July, although a specific date hasn’t been set yet.
Earlier this year, WWE legend Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson announced WrestleMania 42 for April 11 and 12, 2026, at the Caesars Superdome. This would have marked the third time New Orleans hosted this massive event, following editions in 2014 and 2018. However, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation noted that WrestleMania is being postponed to a future year.
The statement from the foundation said, “The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership, which will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money in the Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania, which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year.”
New Orleans & Company, aimed at promoting tourism in the area, stated they would coordinate with TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC. Reasons for the change in WrestleMania’s location remain unclear.
This adjustment in event location follows TKO’s strategy to pursue site fees and incentives from hosting venues. Las Vegas negotiated a $5 million site fee for this year’s WrestleMania, illustrating the financial implications of such large events.
As part of the announcement, WWE has not yet responded to media inquiries for further comment on the changes. Fans will eagerly await details about the new WrestleMania dates and location as the situation develops.
