WWE NXT Ratings Drop Amidst Playoff Competition

NEW YORK, NY — WWE NXT‘s May 27 episode struggled with viewership, attracting only 650,000 viewers, according to ratings released on May 30, 2025. This episode marked a 7% decline from the previous week, tying for the lowest number of the year, but saw an 8% rise in the coveted 18-49 demographic.
The episode followed Trick Williams‘ historic TNA World Championship win at the Battleground event just days earlier. Despite two title changes during the broadcast, NXT faced stiff competition from NBA and NHL playoff games. The Indiana Pacers‘ Game 4 victory over the New York Knicks captured 5.91 million viewers, while the Edmonton Oilers‘ Game 4 win against the Dallas Stars garnered 1.52 million.
On broadcast television, NXT tied for last place in ratings with FOX’s “The Cleaning Lady.” NBC‘s “America’s Got Talent” topped the night with 4.81 million viewers. Such competition is common during the spring playoffs, causing fluctuations in ratings across the board.
WWE officials hope to see improved numbers when Williams defends his TNA title next Tuesday, and when new North American and Women’s champions Ethan Page and Jacy Jayne celebrate their victories. As such, WWE will work to engage fans leading up to upcoming events, including an anticipated main event with heavy stakes.
WWE’s ratings and audience data shows ongoing shifts in viewer behavior, making future events critical for their audience retention and engagement strategies.
