WWE Plans Exciting Return to Mexico with Major Event Announcement

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Paul “Triple H” Levesque, the executive vice president of talent relations and head of WWE creative, announced plans for WWE to return to Mexico and South America for a major event during a recent podcast interview.
Speaking on the Flagrant podcast, Levesque described the potential for the company to host events in these regions, highlighting the significant fan base the company has neglected. He stated, “It’s a market that we haven’t tapped yet, but it’s coming.” His remarks came just days before WWE’s WrestleMania 41, set to take place at Allegiant Stadium.
The last televised WWE event in Mexico occurred over a decade ago, with episodes of RAW and SmackDown filmed in 2011. Since then, WWE has expanded into international markets but has not returned to Mexico for a Premium Live Event (PLE), which is broadcast globally through platforms like Peacock and WWE Network.
“We will be in France, in Paris. That will be crazy. We’re going back to Perth, Australia. The Middle East is always amazing. And we haven’t touched South America yet. We’re going to Mexico. All these things are coming, and we’re going to do them,” Levesque added.
The potential return of WWE to Mexico has excited fans eager to see their favorite superstars perform after years without a major event. During this hiatus, many Mexican wrestlers, including Rey Mysterio and Andrade, have gained prominence in WWE, further increasing interest in a return. These stars could play a vital role in attracting the Hispanic audience in Mexico.
While no official date has been set, 2026 is being speculated as a possible year for their return. One significant event, Backlash, is mentioned as a likely candidate given some hints dropped by music artist and WWE collaborator Bad Bunny regarding a 2024 event.
The demand for WWE events in Mexico has grown in recent years, especially considering that the company has held successful Premium Live Events in Gales and Puerto Rico in 2023. For 2024, dates in Paris and Perth are already confirmed.
WWE’s absence from Mexico has left fans yearning to see their favorite wrestlers on their home turf again. As anticipation builds, fans hope for an official announcement regarding the date, venue, and participants for the upcoming event.
The idea of WWE conducting a Premium Live Event in Mexico has significant cultural relevance, as wrestling is a cherished aspect of local pop culture. Triple H’s comments indicate a commitment to reintegrate the company into this vibrant market and potentially celebrate the rich legacy of lucha libre.
As preparations for their potential return unfold, fans are eager to experience the thrill of live events packed with the excitement WWE is known for. Ticket sales and further details regarding Backlash 2025 will be announced in the coming months.
