Granit Xhaka‘s stunning long-range strike secured Bayer Leverkusen‘s victory in the DFB Pokal final, clinching an unprecedented domestic league and cup double for the club.

Under the guidance of manager Xabi Alonso, Bayer Leverkusen achieved an extraordinary feat of an undefeated season in Germany, making history with their first double triumph.

The joyous moment came after a disappointing loss to Atalanta in the Europa League Final just earlier in the week.

Former Arsenal midfielder, Xhaka, delivered the decisive blow with a powerful shot from 25 yards out, propelling Leverkusen past second-division side Kaiserslautern.

Despite being reduced to ten men following Odilon Kossounou‘s red card before halftime, Leverkusen maintained control of the game and secured their second-ever German Cup victory, the first since 1993.

Club CEO, Fernando Carro, praised the team’s performance, hailing the win as well-deserved and a result of their hard-fought effort.

Leverkusen, often nicknamed ‘Neverkusen’ for their inability to secure a major title since 1993, completed the season on a high note, also claiming the Bundesliga title with an unbeaten record.

The dominant performance saw them finish 17 points clear of second-place Stuttgart, with the likes of Harry Kane‘s Bayern Munich trailing further behind.

Xabi Alonso’s managerial success at Leverkusen has attracted attention from top clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich, but the Spaniard has reaffirmed his commitment to the club as they prepare for the upcoming Champions League campaign.
