Yang Hansen Nba G League Performance

PORTLAND, ORE. — Rookie center Yang Hansen impressed in his recent games with the Portland Trail Blazers‘ G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix. On Nov. 15, he scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds, made three assists, and blocked three shots in a close 113-111 loss to the South Bay Lakers.

“This was more like the Hansen we saw this summer,” a team spokesperson said. Hansen’s standout performance featured two crucial three-pointers in the final moments of the game, showcasing his skillful shooting ability.

In his first G League game, Hansen managed eight points and 13 rebounds in a 107-104 victory against Khaman Maluach and the Valley Suns. Despite showing promise, Hansen’s journey in the NBA has faced hurdles; he averaged only 1.8 points in 5.8 minutes per game during his time with the Trail Blazers.

The Blazers believe in Hansen’s potential, as they selected him 16th overall in this year’s NBA draft. “Player development isn’t linear,” a coach remarked. “Hansen is just 20; it’s normal for young players to need time.”

As the Blazers focus on their long-term goals, they are allowing Hansen space to develop his skills. They are aware of the challenges ahead, especially in the competitive Western Conference, where securing a star player is crucial for success.

Meanwhile, the Blazers faced a tough loss against the Houston Rockets, highlighting areas for improvement as interim coach Tiago Splitter encouraged the team to regroup. “We just wanted to discuss what we need to do better,” said forward Jerami Grant. The meeting focused on maintaining unity, with players emphasizing the importance of communicating effectively as a team.

As Hansen continues to develop in the G League, the Blazers hope he can become a valuable asset in the future. “If we stick to the game plan and believe in each other, we will be fine,” forward Omari Camara added.
