Yankees’ Cabrera Out Against Royals, Returns for Rays Matchup

NEW YORK, NY — New York Yankees infielder Oswaldo Cabrera will not be in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s matchup against the Kansas City Royals. Although Cabrera has demonstrated strong performance against left-handed pitchers this season, he will sit while teammate Oswald Peraza starts at third base.
Cabrera, a switch-hitter, has logged an impressive 4-for-6 with a walk against southpaws in the current season. However, New York manager Aaron Boone is utilizing a platoon strategy, and Peraza will face Royals left-hander Kris Bubic, batting ninth in the order.
This season, Cabrera is hitting .278 with an on-base percentage of .333 and a slugging percentage of .278 over 39 plate appearances. His contributions include four runs scored and ten runs batted in (RBI).
Cabrera’s recent absence from the starting lineup marks a strategic approach from Boone as he seeks to optimize matchups against varying pitching styles. Cabrera’s versatility has been a valuable asset to the Yankees thus far.
After sitting out the last two games, Cabrera is expected to return to the lineup on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays, where he will once again start at third base and bat ninth. Yankees fans look forward to seeing him back in action, especially after his performance earlier this season.
“It’s always tough sitting on the bench, but I’m ready to go whenever my name is called,” Cabrera commented in a recent interview. His determination to contribute to the team’s success remains evident.
