Yankees Tigers Baseball Game April 2025

DETROIT — The New York Yankees are poised to take on the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, beginning Monday, April 7, 2025. This three-game series has been rescheduled to accommodate predictions of inclement weather, with game times moved forward due to a forecast of rain and snow showers.

Originally set to begin at 6:40 p.m., Monday’s game will now start at 3:10 p.m. The Tuesday and Wednesday matchups have also been adjusted to 1:10 p.m. Both teams seek to capitalize on a critical early-season series.

Detroit manager A.J. Hinch explained the decision to shift the times, noting, “It was a collaboration of everybody, and I’m really happy with everyone. Given what the forecast says, it’s going to be better during the day.”

The Weather Channel projects temperatures around 43 degrees at the new first pitch time, compared to the low 30s expected later in the evening. As the season progresses, teams often adjust schedules to maintain optimal player and fan experiences.

The Tigers head into this series with a record of 5-4, buoyed by recent momentum that includes back-to-back series wins, capped off by a walk-off hit from Spencer Torkelson. His unexpected surge has provided a crucial boost after his challenging spring training, demonstrating the impact of adjustments on performance.

“Spencer has made some big swing changes that have benefited him and the team,” Hinch said regarding Torkelson’s play. “His right-handed bat is exactly what we needed.”

Meanwhile, the Yankees have set an impressive pace, matching the Detroit Tigers’ record for the highest home run count in a season’s first nine games with 25 homers, a performance reminiscent of past teams. A notable point of comparison is the 2006 Tigers, who also achieved significant early-season success.

Yankees’ outfielder Aaron Judge currently leads the majors with six home runs, along with contributions from others like Trent Grisham and Anthony Volpe, marking a power surge that has left fans and analysts intrigued.

“There’s not one guy here that’s gone up there and said, ‘I’m going to hit a home run,’” noted Yankees hitting coach Don Slaught, who oversaw the 2006 Tigers. His comments echo the importance of team synergy and confidence in hitting performance.
