Youngster Travis Hernes Set for Newcastle United Debut in FA Cup Clash

Teenager Travis Hernes could potentially make his debut for Newcastle United in tonight’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who has represented Norway at the under-17 level, has been named on the Magpies’ first-team bench for the cup tie. Hernes joined Newcastle from Shrewsbury Town in September 2023. He made headlines at Shrewsbury when he scored on his professional debut in a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Trophy at just 16 years old.
Since arriving at Newcastle, Hernes has made appearances for the club’s under-19 side in the UEFA Youth League, recording an assist in their historic win against Paris Saint-Germain. He has also played for both the under-21 and under-18 teams.
In an interview earlier this month, Hernes spoke highly of Newcastle’s academy, saying that training with the first-team has been a great learning experience for him. He emphasized the importance of challenging himself against top-level players and absorbing as much information as possible.
