Youtube Tv Paramount Channels Dispute News

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — YouTube TV subscribers face potential channel losses as Paramount threatens to withdraw its programming from the streaming platform amid a carriage dispute. On February 13, 2025, Paramount issued a warning that over 20 popular channels, including CBS, MTV, and Nickelodeon, could be pulled unless a resolution is reached.

The dispute arises as negotiations continue between the two companies following a recent price hike of YouTube TV’s subscription from $72.99 to $82.99 per month. Paramount’s channels include major networks such as CBS Sports, BET, Comedy Central, and others that are staples of entertainment and live sports.

If the deadlock persists, YouTube TV subscribers may lose access to beloved shows like “Yellowstone,” “Survivor,” and “Big Brother.” Additionally, the potential blackout affects popular live events and news programming. The ongoing negotiations have prompted both companies to seek a timely agreement to avert disruptions.

In an effort to retain subscribers despite the looming threat of a blackout, YouTube TV plans to offer bill credits to customers affected by the loss of Paramount-owned channels. According to an email sent to subscribers, if an agreement is not reached by the end of Thursday, YouTube TV will lower customer bills by $8 for the initial month affected by the dispute. This credit aims to offset the loss of Paramount+, which provides content from CBS and various Paramount cable channels.

Paramount’s co-CEOs — George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins — expressed optimism in a memo to employees that an agreement will be reached. “We remain hopeful that we can reach an agreement that fairly recognizes the full power of our brands and popular programming,” they stated.

As negotiations unfold, subscribers looking for alternative viewing options have several choices. DirecTV Stream offers a package that includes CBS and other Paramount channels for a starting price of $74.99. Hulu + Live TV also includes CBS and most Paramount stations while bundling a subscription to Disney+ and ESPN+ for the same cost as YouTube TV, $82.99. Other streaming services like FuboTV and Sling provide access to various Paramount channels at competitive rates.

The situation remains fluid as both companies are under pressure to find a resolution, with viewers left anxiously awaiting news on their streaming options. Paramount’s channels will be canceled from YouTube TV and related services if both parties do not agree on a new contract or a temporary extension by the deadline.
