Yuki Tsunoda Red Bull Racing Abu Dhabi Post Season Test

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda will have the opportunity to drive the senior team’s car during the 2024 post-season test in Abu Dhabi. This announcement comes after discussions between Red Bull Racing and their engine provider, Honda, which has long supported Tsunoda’s career.

Tsunoda, who is currently driving for AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s sister team, has been seeking a promotion to the main Red Bull Racing team. Despite his efforts, he has so far been overlooked for the seat alongside Max Verstappen. However, the upcoming test at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit in December will give him a chance to demonstrate his skills with the Red Bull Racing engineers and car.

Horner highlighted that Tsunoda has already had a unique experience driving a current F1 car in an open-face helmet and goggles at the Goodwood event earlier this year. The post-season test is seen as a significant opportunity for Tsunoda to showcase his performance and potentially influence future team line-up decisions.

This development comes amid ongoing discussions about Red Bull’s future line-up, with Sergio Perez recently securing an extension to remain as Verstappen’s teammate but facing pressure due to a recent dip in form. Additionally, Liam Lawson is pushing for a full-time seat after replacing Daniel Ricciardo in Austin.
