Las Vegas, NV — After nearly three years away from the UFC, Zabit Magomedsharipov is generating buzz about a potential return to the Octagon.

Magomedsharipov, who retired in 2022 with a perfect 6-0 UFC record, was last seen competing in 2019. The 34-year-old Russian’s retirement raised eyebrows among fans and analysts, especially given his 18-1 professional record and ranking as high as No. 4 in the featherweight division.

Teammate Muskhab Kudiev sparked speculation about Magomedsharipov’s possible comeback in a social media post, stating, “He will be back soon. His comeback, as always, in perfect form.” The post included a video of Magomedsharipov shadowboxing and practicing kicks at the Buka Gym in Dubai.

Responses from fans have shown excitement over the potential news. “Please come back,” one fan commented, reflecting the anticipation surrounding his return.

However, as of now, Magomedsharipov has not submitted any drug test samples to the UFC Anti-Doping Program, which is necessary for a return to competition. Following Kudiev’s video, Russian MMA reporter Artem Tarasov reported that Magomedsharipov may not resume his career, leaving fans uncertain.

Known for his striking ability and unique kicking style, Magomedsharipov has been a challenging opponent throughout his UFC tenure. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, he is one of the taller fighters in the featherweight division. He left the UFC after victory against top contenders, including Jeremy Stephens and Calvin Kattar.

While Magomedsharipov has been absent from the Octagon, the featherweight division has seen shifts, particularly with current champion Alexander Volkanovski’s status. Upon Magomedsharipov’s hypothetical return, analysts speculate his presence could significantly impact the division dynamics.

Prior to his retirement, Magomedsharipov was slated to fight Yair Rodriguez in a highly anticipated matchup, but the fight was called off due to injury in 2020. Rodriguez remains a top competitor, scheduled to fight at UFC 314 next month.

As fans eagerly await official news, the possibility of Magomedsharipov’s comeback continues to stir speculations, with both excitement and skepticism permeating discussions across the MMA community.
