Zac Efron and John Cena Star in the Comedy ‘Ricky Stanicky’
Zac Efron and John Cena are set to bring the laughs in the upcoming comedy film ‘Ricky Stanicky’, directed by Peter Farrelly. The hilarious official trailer was released on Friday, giving audiences a taste of the comedic chemistry between Efron and Cena.
The film follows a group of friends who come up with an imaginary character named Ricky Stanicky to get themselves out of trouble. Fast forward 20 years later, and they still use Ricky as an alibi for their immature behavior. In the trailer, Efron’s character is seen scheming with his friends, played by Andrew Santino and Jermaine Fowler, to come up with a new Ricky alibi so they can go on a trip.
John Cena makes a grand entrance in the trailer, dressed in various fun costumes, as the celebrity impersonator hired by the friends to play Ricky Stanicky at a family gathering. The film also stars William H. Macy, Lex Scott Davis, Anja Savcic, and Jeff Ross.
‘Ricky Stanicky’ will be available to stream on Prime Video starting March 7. The film has been in development for a long time, with the original script by Jeff Bushell landing on the Black List back in 2010. Various stars, including James Franco and Jim Carrey, were previously attached to the project.
Zac Efron, known for his role in ‘The Iron Claw‘, has received critical acclaim for his acting skills. John Cena, on the other hand, has had a busy year in the film industry, appearing in titles such as ‘Fast X‘, ‘Barbie‘, ‘Vacation Friends 2‘, and the upcoming spy comedy ‘Argylle‘.
