Zanskar Multi-Purpose Library Inaugurated by LAHDC Kargil Official

Kargil, October 16, 2024: A new landmark was unveiled in Zanskar as the Executive Councilor for ZDA, RDD, Cooperative, and Information at LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi, formally opened the Zanskar Buddhist Association’s Office cum Multi-Purpose Library located in Maniringmo Padum. This facility was developed with an investment of ₹1.50 crores, financed through the District Capex Budget.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Area Development Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk, President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association, Paksang Lawang, the President of the Lambardar Association Zanskar, along with other important Sub Divisional Officers.

Addressing the attendees, Executive Councilor Punchok Tashi highlighted the critical importance of fostering communal harmony. He called upon the President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association to allocate a room within the facility for patients from distant areas and for non-local individuals who are hospitalized in the area.

Responding positively to the councilor’s request, ZBA President Paksang Lawang assured that a specific room would indeed be designated for patients and others in need of such accommodations when they visit the subdivision for medical treatment.
