Zion Williamson Naruto Tattoo

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Zion Williamson, star forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, has recently added a striking new tattoo to his collection, inspired by the popular anime series ‘Naruto.’ The tattoo, depicting a four-symbol seal located on his stomach, signifies the Pelicans player’s deep appreciation for anime and its influence on his life.

Williamson, 24, is known for his enthusiasm for ‘Naruto,’ and the new ink is a testament to that passion. The four-symbol seal is notably used in the series to confine evil spirits. In an Instagram post, Louisiana-based tattoo artist Nova Tattoo shared the artwork and mentioned that Williamson had taken the time to customize the design.

The tattoo is particularly meaningful for Williamson, who has related his personal struggles and resilience to the themes of the series. In an interview with GQ Sports in August 2022, he remarked, “From what I’ve been through to get to where I am and what I go through to this day, Naruto has always been there and always will be.” He reflected on his journey through injuries and external doubts, emphasizing the importance of staying true to oneself, much like the show’s protagonist.

This season, Williamson has participated in 21 games for the Pelicans, averaging an impressive 24.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. His ability to perform at a high level has been hampered by injuries, causing him to miss a significant number of games throughout the year. Despite these setbacks, he has demonstrated resilience, particularly in February, where he has been averaging 26.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists over the past seven games.

Fans have expressed mixed reactions to Williamson’s new tattoo on social media. Some called humorous attention to the seal’s functionality, with comments like “Bro’s sealing the food in there” and “Sealing all the calories inside him for later use.” Others celebrated Williamson’s passion for anime as an integral part of his identity as an athlete.

Williamson previously collaborated with VIZ Media to launch a line of ‘Naruto’-inspired sneakers for Jordan Brand, highlighting his deep-rooted connection to the anime. His fandom and engagement with the series continue to resonate with fans, linking sports and pop culture in unique ways.

Although Williamson faces ongoing scrutiny regarding his health and injury history, his dedication to his fitness is evident. Reports earlier this season indicated that he dropped down to 264 pounds, his lightest weight since being drafted by the Pelicans in 2019. As he continues to navigate these challenges, Williamson’s success on the court and his personal journey serve as an inspiration to many, both within and outside the sports community.
