Australian Trials Finals, Day One witnessed outstanding performances by Australia’s top swimmers as they secured coveted spots for the upcoming Paris Olympics. The highlight of the day was Emma McKeon‘s impressive win in the 100m butterfly event, solidifying her position in the Paris-bound team.

McKeon, who is hailed as Australia’s most successful Olympian, clinched victory with a time of 56.85, showcasing her impeccable skills in the pool. Turning 30, McKeon celebrates her birthday with a significant milestone: qualifying for her third Olympic Games before retiring from competitive swimming.

On the men’s side, Sam Williamson from Melbourne Vicentre made a memorable mark by setting a new Australian All-Comers record in the 100m breaststroke event. His blazing time of 58.80 not only secured his spot in the Tokyo-bound squad but also placed him in elite company among Australia’s breaststroke legends.

Joining Williamson in the 100m breaststroke event is WA‘s Joshua Yong, who narrowly managed to hit the qualifying time with a personal best of 58.48. Yong’s stellar performance adds depth to Australia’s medley relay team, setting high expectations for their Paris campaign.
