MercedesGeorge Russell emerged victorious at the Austrian Grand Prix following a thrilling duel between Red Bull‘s Max Verstappen and McLaren‘s Lando Norris.

The race took a dramatic turn when Verstappen and Norris collided, allowing Russell to claim the lead and the win.

Verstappen had dominated much of the race but faced pressure from Norris, who attempted several overtaking moves.

However, the race-defining moment came on lap 64 when Verstappen and Norris made contact at Turn 3, both sustaining punctures and dropping down the order.

This incident elevated Russell to the lead, where he remained until the checkered flag, securing his second Formula 1 career victory.

Behind Russell, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri clinched an unexpected second place, with Ferrari‘s Carlos Sainz completing the podium.

Lewis Hamilton finished fourth in the Mercedes, while Verstappen crossed the line in fifth despite a 10-second penalty for the collision.

Haas drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen put on a strong performance, finishing sixth and eighth respectively.

The battle for points saw intense midfield action, with drivers like Alpine‘s Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin‘s Valtteri Bottas, and WilliamsLogan Sargeant making significant moves.

The next race on the Formula 1 calendar is the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, promising more thrilling racing action.
