Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale Star in ‘Madden’ Film About NFL Legends

ATLANTA, Ga. — MGM has released the first look at Academy Award winners Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale portraying NFL icons John Madden and Al Davis in the upcoming film, ‘Madden.’

Directed by David O. Russell, known for films like ‘Three Kings’ and ‘American Hustle’, ‘Madden’ chronicles John Madden’s remarkable journey from Super Bowl-winning coach of the Oakland Raiders to becoming a legendary sports broadcaster and the face of the popular EA sports video game series.

The screenplay is a collaboration between Russell and Cambron Clark, setting the stage for a detailed look into Madden’s influential career. In addition to Cage and Bale, the film features John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts. Kathryn Hahn plays Madden’s wife, Virginia, while Sienna Miller portrays Carol Davis, wife of Raiders owner Al Davis.

While there is no official release date yet, production is currently underway in Atlanta, heightening anticipation for the film.

The Madden video game series, which began in 1988 as ‘John Madden Football’ on the Apple II, has evolved into one of the most successful video game franchises in history.
