CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Scottie Scheffler seized the top spot on the leaderboard at the 2025 PGA Championship after delivering a stellar round on Saturday. The World No. 1 golfer shot a 6-under par 65, pulling ahead with an 11-under total for the tournament.

With this round, Scheffler sits three strokes clear of Alex Noren, who is in second place after posting a 5-under 66. The final round is set for Sunday, when Scheffler will aim for his third major title, having already won twice at Augusta National in 2022 and 2024.

“These tournaments are very important to us, and you work your whole life to have a chance to win major tournaments,” Scheffler said after his round. “I’m looking forward to the challenge and have a good opportunity to try and win the golf tournament.”

However, Scheffler faces a competitive field, with names like Jhonattan Vegas and Bryson DeChambeau also in contention. Vegas, who was the overnight leader, fell back after a 2-over round, leaving him tied for fifth at 6-under.

DeChambeau, who was in the mix earlier, saw his position slip after a shaky ending to his round on the notoriously challenging “Green Mile.” He ended the day at 5-under and will need a spectacular performance on Sunday to catch up to Scheffler.

As the tournament advances, many eyes will be on the pairing of Scheffler and Noren, who will tee off together at 2:40 p.m. ET on Sunday. If Scheffler secures the win, he would become the 48th player in history to win three or more majors, further solidifying his status atop the golf world.
