Dickinson Upsets RIT to Reach National Championship

Foxborough, MA — The Dickinson Red Devils have made an impressive run in the NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse tournament, defeating RIT 12-10 to secure a spot in the national championship.
Fresh off an overtime victory against Salisbury, Dickinson entered the semifinals underdogs. In the regular season, RIT had soundly defeated them 24-7. Despite being considered the weaker team, Dickinson shocked fans and opponents alike by taking an early 5-1 lead in the second quarter.
Head coach Dave Webster praised his team’s effort, stating, “We played smart and took advantage of their mistakes.” RIT struggled with turnovers and poor passing late in the game, allowing Dickinson to maintain control and ultimately claim victory.
The Red Devils had a remarkable week, knocking off three top-five teams — Salisbury, RPI, and RIT — to reach the title match. Their last loss was to Gettysburg on April 9, and since then, they have been on a winning streak. “We feel confident and loose right now,” added Webster.
In the other semifinal, two-time defending champion Tufts faced Bowdoin in a rematch of a thrilling regular-season game. Tufts emerged victorious with a commanding 26-11 score, solidifying their place in the final.
As the championship nears, Dickinson will be looking to continue their incredible run against a tough Tufts team that is also eager to defend their title. With excitement building, fans are anticipating an epic showdown in Foxborough.
